Frequently Asked Questions

What adjustments have been made in light of Covid-19?

Here at Unique, the wellbeing of our clients is our priority. We provide all carers with training on infection control with a particular focus on Covid-19. We also provide unlimited PPE for carers as well as training on how to use it effectively so we can continue supporting our clients in a safe manner.

Can I contact Unique outside of office hours?

Yes. We are here you around-the-clock, contactable by phone 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Will I always have the same Carer?

We recognise the importance of having regular carers with whom you can build a consistent and trusting relationship. Whilst you may not always receive the same Carer, when the Carer is on holiday for example, we minimise the number of alternative Carers you receive so there will always be a familiar face.

Can I change care plans as time goes on?

Yes. We understand that care requirements change and these changes must be accounted for to provide the best possible care. We regularly update care plans so they align with your current needs. This is done through regular contact with our clients, their families and Carers.

How does Unique ensure they provide exceptional Carers?

Unique prides itself on having an exceptional Health and Wellbeing Team who deliver quality care throughout the community. This is possible through our rigorous recruitment and induction process. Carers submit their CV, undertake an interview with one of our members of staff, have a thorough background check and complete induction training before they deliver care. We continue to provide training courses, additional qualifications and check-ins for Carers to ensure they are confident and competent in delivering the highest standard of care.

How long can my visits be?

Our minimum visit time is 45 minutes and can be for as long as you choose, as we believe that your care visit should entail more than the bare minimum and is not to be rushed or seen merely as a task to complete.

What training do your Carers have?

Our carers complete comprehensive training before they begin giving care in the community. This covers everything from safe moving and handling, dementia care, correct handling of medications, end of life support and more.

New carers also complete shadow shifts with a more experienced member of the team. This ensures new carers fully understand your needs and how best to meet them, so they can deliver excellent care right from the get-go.

Do I have to pay for the initial care assessment?

No. We provide initial care assessments for free. Our Rregistered Manager will visit you at your home to discuss your care requirements and how we can best meet them. A care plan will then be created specifically for you and care will begin at an agreed time that works for you.

Is there a minimum number of visits that we must have?

No. There is no set number of visits you must have to begin receiving care from us. We have clients receiving care once a week, four times a day, overnight care or more or less depending on their needs. We will provide the amount of care that is best for you and your current situation.

How can I be sure all the required tasks are completed?

A folder will be left in your home and, at the beginning and end of each visit, carers will scan it’s QR code to log when they begin and end your care. This way we can monitor and ensure carers are attending for the full visit and you are receiving the care agreed.

Can you provide 2 carers at once?

We do not provide double-up visits as it is difficult to manage effectively. This is because a previous visit may run over time or unforeseen situations may arise, meaning care cannot begin at the arranged time. This is not the standard of care that we aim to provide so we do not provide double-up visits in the best interests of our clients.

Do you charge a fixed price?

Yes. You will not pay any more for evening or weekend visits than you would for day visits. We understand that care is required at all times of day, 7 days a week, so we do not believe you should pay a premium due to the timing of your visit. The only exception to this is on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
