Whether you’re in need of short-term relief or a more permanent care arrangement, Unique can provide you with the care you need.
Unique Homecare Services was founded in 2016 by Michelle Thompson, who had worked in the care sector for over 20 years and wanted to improve the quality of care being delivered throughout the UK. Michelle wanted to steer away from standardised, task-based care and offer more personalised, person-centred care. Recognising that everyone is a unique individual with varying needs, Michelle set up Unique to provide quality care that is tailored to each client’s needs.
Unique Homecare Services also supports the client’s family, as the team understands the importance of providing them with peace of mind that their loved one is being well cared for. This holistic approach ensures that excellent support is received by everyone involved with the client.
Our ethos and vision is that, by working as a team with clients and their families, we can provide personalised care to give the best quality of life and maximum independence for our clients.
We want to change the face of care. That’s why we are constantly developing our model of care. For example, we work with Lancaster University’s Dementia Research Team to enhance the diet, exercise and cognitive stimulation of clients; factors that are proven to slow down the progression of dementia. By doing so, we hope to revolutionise the care sector and set the highest standard of care throughout the UK.
Unique’s Health and Wellbeing Team is dedicated to providing exceptional care to our clients. During a 12-week induction programme, team members receive thorough training, shadowing and mentoring so they can deliver quality care. We also match team members and clients based on interests, personalities and specific client requirements so trusting relationships can be built.

Reviews from the People we Support
I am so pleased to be a client of Unique. They support me so I can live a full life. So different from other care providers I have had. The people are helpful and friendly, nothing is too much. – Janet T. (Unique Client)
From the very first meeting, the service given has been exceptional and totally professional. Added to which the company operates an app system which provides the client’s family with an updated record of the carer’s visit, which we found invaluable.
Unique Homecare Services have been professional, caring and well organised right from the outset. Furthermore, the management is well educated in the specific needs of dementia care. We have been struck by how ‘on the ball’ Unique Homecare has been.
My mother’s carer is the most friendly, hard-working person I have met. Nothing is too much trouble. She is so good with my mother and can make her do things that I could never get her to do i.e. shower. She is a pleasure to have in my parents home.
