Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate in 5* Accommodation on a Bespoke Retreat

Set in the stunning setting of Broughton hall, which is a sanctuary for healing with high standard 5* accommodation, the owner Mr Tempest is the current custodian of the Estate after 32 generations.  The Hall is situated within 3000 acres of the historic parkland and the best of British countryside. Mr Tempest’s dream is to create a place of calm and healing and so this is why we feel that it is the most perfect setting for our retreats.

We offer carer assistance to allow respite for family members or Carers while facilitating the following activities.

What’s Included?

Included in your stay are all meals, chosen from a menu that is nutritious and full of locally sourced, natural ingredients. The Retreat’s catering staff work respectfully with the seasons as they understand that nature provides all we need to nourish our mind, body and spirit.

The Retreat provides a number of individual holiday homes ranging in size from 2 to 6 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 11 guests. Each holiday home, dotted around the 3000 acre estate, has it’s own unique individual charms and facilities. Feel free to discuss with us your requirements and we’ll help pick the accommodation that should suit you best.

We will schedule Carers to be available during your retreat package, should that be 24 hour at home care for your loved one, care at the accommodation or by providing facilitators during activities. Primarily, we see the retreat as a place for respite, education and restoration for Primary Carers, but where possible aim to create a Dementia Friendly environment that will allow for an enriching, emotional experience for all.

In addition to the activities chosen from above, included in your stay is 75 mins per day access to the spa and wellness center, with optional treatments available including massage and mindfulness sessions with Jillian. Also, Unique can provide face-to-face advice sessions on dementia diagnosis and what happens next. Optionally, you may also plant a tree, dedicated to a loved one.

Absolutely fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed every minute. As soon as you enter the grounds you feel uplifted by the serenity and beauty. Everyone was so so friendly and welcoming. It just feels like the place to be to unwind and find yourself. I didn’t want to go home.

The ambiance at the pool and spa is perfect for relaxing. My husband loved having his feet massaged and hair washed, in fact touch is an important sense for most people with dementia as is smell and I know he would benefit from the relaxing properties of essential oils and massage.

The whole experience from start to finish was exemplary and faultless. From responsive email replies to experiencing the retreat, the service was top class. Unique were very calm and personable with an approachable manner – this was also reflected in those who lead on the activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this experience best suited for?

Primarily, we see this retreat as place for Carers to enjoy some respite. We aim to make the retreat Dementia Friendly to enable you to bring your loved one with you and share some experiences. However, this may not be possible depending on the stage of Dementia, which is why we can offer at home Respite Care to facilitate your visit.

Is 24 hour care available at the retreat or at home?

The level of care available depends entirely on your requirements. Should you wish for 24 hour at home care for your loved one while you attend the retreat that can be arranged. Alternatively, if you require care at the accommodation during the day, or simply someone to facilitate activities with your loved one on an ad hoc basis, then that can be provided also.

Can I bring family pets and infant children?

Yes, a number of the holiday homes are pet friendly and provide facilities for children such as high chairs, travel cots and stair gates. Please note any of these requirements when you contact us and we’ll make sure we can accommodate.

For how many nights is the stay at the retreat?

Our accompanying activity and care packages are designed to accommodate a 3 nights stay, however we can be flexible to best suit your needs. Contact us below with your exact requirements.

Where is the retreat and how do I get there?

The sanctuary is situated in the 3000 acre estate of Broughton Hall in Skipton, Yorkshire. The estate is a short taxi ride away from the Skipton train station and is commutable from Manchester by car in approximately an hour. More information on how to find the estate is available at request.

Is it possible to cancel or amend my booking?
